Vincent King
Osteopath
Introduction
Vincent is passionate about manual therapy and the benefits it can offer in the prevention, treatment and management of neuromusculoskeletal pain. He is a strong believer in an integrated approach to treatment, and will refer patients to other health professionals where appropriate.
A childhood illness allowed Vincent to understand the importance of physical health, which began his manual therapy journey. Before practicing as an osteopath, Vincent worked for many years as a massage therapist alongside osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and a Chinese herbalist.
Vincent graduated in 2009 from a 5 year university osteopathy program and continues to update his knowledge and skills through ongoing professional education.
Philosophy and treatment used
Osteopathy is a safe and effective hands on way of encouraging your body's own inherent healing abilities. Treatment includes stretching and releasing tight, achey muscles and tendons, loosening of stiff joints and increasing local blood flow to areas of stagnation.
The techniques used by osteopaths are guided by the principles of osteopathy as espoused by the founder, Andrew Taylor Still. Treatment is guided by the best available evidence.
Tailored stretches and strengthening exercises are often prescribed to augment the benefits of osteopathic treatment. Specific exercises are useful tools for rehabilitation and as a self management tool.
