Jeannie Kim obtained her four year bachelor degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2010. As part of her studies, she participated in a hospital program in Beijing, allowing her to observe the benefits of integrative medicine at first hand. Since then, she believes that integrative medicine is beneficial to the community and strongly advocates for the combined treatment of western and alternative medicine. She enjoys seeing the benefits that integrative medicine has for patients, and promotes the use of both medical worlds in her treatment processes.
Jeannie trained in Japanese acupuncture in 2011, a method which relies heavily on palpation of the abdominal cavity, acupuncture points, and the pulse for assessment. The palpation of these areas help her to understand each patient’s’ body mechanisms, as well as identifying the causal root to their health issues. Jeannie will refer to the pulse before, during, and after treatment. The premise of Japanese acupuncture is that the pulse changes with different acupuncture points. Jeannie’s aim in each treatment is to bring the pulse to an ideal state of balance. This helps her to achieve satisfying results with some of her patients.
Her belief in Chinese Medicine is that it is a holistic medicine, and so incorporates this within her treatments. Holistic medicine is an approach in which all aspects of the patient are comprehensively diagnosed via a thorough health assessment, and this includes assessing the physical, emotional, and mental being. Her treatments include combining dietary, social, emotional, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
In every initial consultation, Jeannie thoroughly explains and educates her patients about their overall health and well-being. This helps to empower and engage her patients in understanding how their unique body functions, and therefore work on their weaknesses in order to enhance their well-being.
Jeannie has a background in infertility. Her experiences include treating women
- Undergoing ART procedures,
- Diagnosed with unexplained infertility, and
- With a history of repeated miscarriages
Jeannie encourages all of her fertility patients to undergo at least twelve weeks of preconception care in order to succeed in having a live birth.
Jeannie also has a passion and strong interest in musculoskeletal problems, especially sports injuries. She has had experience in treating patients with issues such as:
- Frozen shoulders,
- Achilles tendonitis,
- Knee issues, and
- Lower back pain
Jeannie believes in practising what you preach. Subsequently, she aims at eating a healthy diet, following a balanced lifestyle, and importantly, incorporating vigorous exercise.
