Naturopathy is a system of health care where the naturopath focuses on the whole person in order to discover the cause(s) of dis-ease rather than just treating symptoms.

How it works

Naturopathic treatment may include dietary advice and lifestyle recommendations, nutritional supplements where required, and  herbal medicines.

Most commonly treated conditions

These include almost anything concerned with your mental, physical or emotional health. You may want a wellness consultation, or help with fertility difficulties, acute cold or flu symptoms, allergies, sleep difficulties, or digestive problems. Moreover, there may be a long-standing problem such as an inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune disease, or a need for support during allopathic treatment for cancer.

What to expect at your first appointment

On your first visit, which lasts around an hour, the naturopath will assess your current health and your history. This includes an exploration of your diet, lifestyle, stress and environmental factors, as well as family members’ health. Physical examination may include checking your hair, skin, nails and tongue, checking your blood pressure and/or undertaking or recommending clinical or laboratory functional tests.

How long does it take to work with you for your condition?

It could take hours, days, weeks or longer. The naturopath will educate, inform and involve you in your health care so that you may feel empowered to gain and maintain optimum health.
