Tanya Newton is experienced in assisting with womens health through all stages of life. She treats a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine
An experienced Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner, Tanya Newton has been in clinical practice for nearly 30 years. She provides acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Surry Hills, Sydney Australia.
Tanya has a longstanding keen interest in health and healing and was originally enrolled in a medical degree at the University of Adelaide in the 1980s. During this time Tanya had her first experiences of traditional Chinese medicine when she tried acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine treatments for some of her own health issues. The results of those treatments sparked an interest in understanding Chinese medicine and learning more about what it had to offer.
The holistic philosophy and approach of Chinese medicine resonated deeply with Tanya. She diverted her studies into what then became a lifelong passion for learning more about TCM. She has been using this knowledge ever since, to help others seeking a different approach to health and healing.
In Chinese medicine the physical, mental and emotional aspects of a person all need to be balanced for optimum health and well-being. We are not just a set of separate body parts that sometimes become faulty. Chinese medicine has understood this for thousands of years. It provides a system for assessing the whole person to see what underlying energetic imbalances may be at the root of each condition, causing symptoms. By providing what’s needed to address these imbalances the body is then able to re-establish equilibrium and heal.
Tanya has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Surry Hills Sydney at the Wholistic Medical Centre since 1998, and enjoys working alongside their team of skilled and experienced practitioners. She uses acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and/or Chinese herbal medicine according to your needs and her experience of what works best for your condition. Your diet and lifestyle will also be considered and advice on these may be given.
Over many years Tanya has acquired extensive experience with a wide variety of both acute and chronic conditions.
She has a special interest in all areas of women’s health including any issues with menstrual cycles, fertility and menopause. Her aim is to support women in staying healthy and balanced through all phases and transitions of life.
